    Blast Furnace
Commissioned in May 2000, Ispat's Blast Furnace is the second largest in India. The furnace manufactures quality pig iron (hot metal) that is used in the Conarc Process and gives enormous energy-saving advantages. It is also sold to other steel makers.

The Blast Furnace has a capacity of 2 million tonnes per annum (MTPA) and a turnover volume of 2581 cu.m. The furnace is equipped with the latest refractory design and cooling system, with copper stoves and copper cooling boxes and a Cast House Slag Granulation System. The furnace is bell-less top and conveyor charging, along with a coal injection system and a conveyorised stock house system.

The performance trends at the plant reveal that the hot metal production has risen from a modest 3,25,690 tonnes in 2000-01 to a whopping 11,74,227 tonnes in 2003-04. Also, the plant has witnessed a noticeable decline in power consumption from 168 KWH/THM in 2000-01 to 127 KWH/THM in 2003-04.
